Your thoughts have a life of their own. Anything that you can imagine to go wrong in life will and these are fuelled by our deepest of fears. The way we think sets of a chain reaction in our brains and bodies.
The good news is that a thought is just that a thought and a fear is just that a fear. It has no life of its own unless you fuel it. Always remember that you will get what you focus on whether you believe it or not and that you will get what you focus on whether you want it or not. This has been taught to us over and over again by all the great masters and self help gurus,
So the question to ask is what are you fuelling in your mind that is creating chaos in your life? Why is it important to keep fuelling those thoughts, ideas and worries that depress your immune system and cause you to stress all day long?
We all have to deal with the daily stresses in life but there is a way to peace.
Here are 5 ways to get started on the right track:
Start where you are: It’s important to be able to take a step back and try to look at the bigger picture of what is going on right here and right now. For example is there really any problem right now? Most probably there is not but it’s your mind constantly releasing thoughts convincing you of the terrors waiting to happen. Take a deep breath and know that whatever is happening now is just a thought.
Change Your thoughts: Unless you know what you are thinking you cannot start the change process, so for example if you are stressing about tomorrow stop focusing on tomorrow and all the problems that may or may not happen tomorrow and instead focus on the here and now and make a choice to feel better.
Stop worrying about what may or may not happen: there is no way that you can predict what may or may not happen. So is it worth focusing all your energy and making yourself feel bad. 98% of worrying is just that – it’s worrying.
Make a choice: we as human beings have the choice and freedom to do anything we choose. The only place we may not have a choice is where we have convinced ourselves that we are powerless. So start right now and think of a positive thought that makes you feel good and like a lullaby slowly think it. Our minds are like an overgrown jungle that needs weeding. The more you think a thought the more new neuro connections you will make in your brain to be able to think that thought again and again.
Stop thinking you are depressed: the more you affirm to yourself “I’m depressed “ the more reasons your mind will find to show you the evidence that indeed you are. While some of you may be suffering from severe depression and on medications, you can always start that small step to change the way your brain fires thoughts and in so start feeling better. There is always hope.
While straight away the problems may not go away, and we all have evidence around us to see that things in the world are not getting any easier but worse day by day. What you do not think about will not bother you. What you do think about will.
Life often is that simple.
This is not about being in denial about life. Just turn on the news and you can see the state of the world we live in today. However it’s about reframing your experience from moment to moment so that you feel better and more in control of your life, because only you can be in charge of your life no one else.
Imagine having a day where all you are feeling and thinking is happiness no matter what is going on around you and all because you changed your focus and point of view. Try the test for yourself its really simple just imagine what would give you the most pleasure and happiness in life and think of that image in your mind – did that not feel good?
So that was the first starting point, in 10minutes time try thinking of that image again, and then again in 10minutes, you get the picture, continue this as often as you can throughout the day.
What you are trying to do effectively with this way of thinking is building new habit patterns in your brain. Scientists say that every single thought we think in our brain releases a brain chemical. As we are a chemical producing machine if you are releasing chemicals that cause you stress once every second – is it a wonder then that you are feeling awful all day long?
So start thinking of bliss and your brain will release those good brain chemicals so that feeling euphoria will become easier and easier to feel.
The power you have within you is truly dormant – the only way to release it is to try and see the results for yourself.
